Post-conference tour
The weather in Ekaterinburg in June is usually warm, with an average maximum of 23 ºC, an average minimum of 12 ºC, and a mean rainfall of 75 mm. However, take into account that the date of last possible frosts according to the climatic norm is the 12th of June. Colleagues registered for middle-conference and post-conference tours should keep in mind possible rain and take water-repellent clothes, boots, and umbrellas.
During the mid-conference and post-conference tours, we will be visiting places populated with mosquitoes and ticks. Please be sure you wear trousers (not shorts!) that can be tucked into socks. Be sure to take repellents which are appropriate for you!
The registration fee does not cover insurance for the participant. We would strongly recommend to bring specific medicine if you use any. No vaccinations are needed in Russia.

“Olenyi Ruchyi” Nature Park is located in the southwest of the Sverdlovsk Region, alongside the lower portions of the Serga River. It was founded in 1999 in an area of 12 thousand hectares in one of the most popular tourist areas of the Middle Urals. Numerous tourists are attracted by its beautiful views, picturesque cliffs, the clean Serga River and mysterious caves.
Numerous karst formations are of the particular interest, including the largest cave in the area "Druzhba" ("Friendship"), which stretches for more than half a kilometer, the Great Karst and many others. Many of the caves are paleozoological and historical monuments. Fifteen thousand year old human settlements have been discovered here. One of the ancient cave paintings of the deer became the emblem of the park.
The park's location on the border of the forest-steppe and mountain taiga contributes to the diversity of its flora. More than 800 species of vascular plants are found here, and 20 of them are endemics and evolutionary relicts. The fauna is represented by almost all species characteristic of the taiga Urals.
The territory of the park is unique not only for its natural features, but also for its special landscapes formed in the 18-19th centuries as a result of human activities. These landscapes, like the Arakaeva cave, are from the era of the Demidovs – the "iron kings" of the Urals. The park is currently creating a natural-historicy open-air museum - the Mitkinskiye Mines - at the site of iron ore mining from the 19th century.
